26 Weeks

It's almost the end of my second trimester, and Steve, Baby Tootle and I are well.  It is hard to believe that the second trimester is almost over.  It is a busy time for Steve and I with our jobs, family and friend events, baby preparation, and a recently-undertaken landscaping redo at our house.

We recently went to Target and started picking out some of the baby stuff we want.  It's overwhelming--decisions that probably don't matter much in the long run hold a lot of pressure when it's for your BABY.  You just don't want to do the wrong thing, you know?

This week we've been having a little heat wave in Central California.  It's been in the 90s for three days now.  This little taste of summer has been kind of rough.  The heat feels different when you've gained 20 pounds.  Thankfully, it'll be in the 70s again by tomorrow, and I'm hoping the blazing Central Valley heat (which is inevitable) will build gradually next time!

Baby Tootle is a lot more active now, and his really active times have fallen into a pattern each day that I can expect.  Lately, Steve and I have spent a few minutes each day watching my belly dance as the baby does his thing.  However, he is shy about performing for others.  While I was in Ohio with my parents a couple weeks ago, he wouldn't move once for my mom to feel!

Here is news about Baby Tootle's recent developments:

Week 26
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

I wish I could be there to see the baby move... even if baby doesn't like to perform for others (I'd coax it to do something... somehow). Glad to hear all is well. Looking forward to meeting baby in August

I hope you know, there is water running out of my eyes (but I'm not crying). You look really good and even more beautiful than ever. I just want to give you a hug. Steve will have to be my substitute hugger for a while. That's an important job Steve; give her one every morning for me. DON'T FORGET!
I love all three of you and think of you often. Grandpa Lutterbein

I hope things are cooling down a little now. Good luck with all your projects around the house. Don't forget to just put your feet up and relax with a little ice cream:)

Thanks, Erin! You are sweet. :) Official due date is July 28th, and I'm having a shower here in CA, but I won't be in Ohio again until Christmas. It will be so fun to get to see Oliver and have Oliver and baby Tootle meet. Hopefully they will be playmates at all future family gatherings. You are welcome to visit any time, before or after baby! We are just a 4 hour drive from Marla. Love you lots!
